This little girl is ready for warmer weather, sunlight, the smell of green grass with the ability to go outside without an over sized jacket! I have had ENOUGH of winter. And though I am hoping for no more snow , it isn't over yet until that date on the calender says it's SPRING! Until then, I am creating it! Spring always puts me in a good mood. I mean, com'on, it's the anniversary of my glorious birth! It makes me dance, sing, run and feel like a kid again because you know once spring is here, summer isn't far away!

Thanks to JPG Photography for the image above.

I've been waking up early in the morning. For whatever reason, a punishment or a blessing, every day, no fail, at 4am I am awake. Not sure if this is God's way of saying "Get up and LIVE!" yet I can tell you that waking at this time gives me something special. Not only is it time alone with my thoughts (which is probably what is waking me up to be honest) but I am also fortunate to witness the sunrising from the east from my bedroom window. Winter sunrises are so different from Spring ones. I thought the first night I work up at 4am, I would get a treat with the sunrise, but I was met with fog and grey and cold. Today, I was blessed with sunshine, light hitting the trees in such a way that I wish I had my camera gear ready. The air was fresh, crisp. The dew on the grass made me feel like it wouldn't be long before my beloved spring comes!

This spring I have some personal goals to achieve. I want to go and explore other area's that I have never been. And I'm not just talking Philadelphia. I'm thinking New York City, Virginia, Washington DC. With the tragedy over in Japan, I have been so tempted to get myself a passport and head over there to document the relief efforts. I want my photojournalism to really start coming into focus this year. I love the candid moments, the real ones that have the emotion you can't quite get from "ok, now everyone lookin' here and smile!" Snap! I wonder how I will accomplish this goal but if I set my mind to it, I am sure I will be able to do at least 50% of what I want. Florida, the Southern States and sunrises are also on my list of things to capture. Wish me luck with my goal this Spring and Summer. I've set the bar pretty high for myself.

Capture every moment,

Lisa

I'm on a sunny, warm beach....

For all my Mid-Atlantic and North East readers, close your eyes a moment and imagine yourself on a nice warm beach. Sunny with the air and waves whispering in your ears.

ITS BEEN SUCH A RIDE THIS MONTH! If I have to go out and shovel one more time I think my hands are going to fall off! I find myself inside working on my Social Media with the cold wind hitting my windows, the frozen rain turning my car into an ice cube and the snow just piling up at my doorstep. I needed to escape. I closed my eyes and imagined myself far away at whatever imaginable beach possible... didn't work. Ok, so now what?

THINK. Over the summer, I took a nice ride out with my son and some great friends to the Philadelphia Zoo. Inside the zoo is a wondrous amount of wild life of course. I started sifting through my pictures I took while I was there. I was on a mission to find a picture that would inspire warmth, love, comfort and imagination while stuck inside my little house cased in ice.

I found one. It must have been taken in the African Rain Forest area of the zoo. I can't remember exactly, maybe by the exotic birds and crocodiles too. But when I found the picture, it was exactly what I was looking for. Something I could close my eyes and relive the warmth of the day, the smell of the rain forest and the excitement of my son as he bounced from one exhibit to the next.
I opened my programs and got to work. I wanted this picture to stand out more than it already did. So, with a little patience and some time I was able to create more imagery to the picture; sharper with deeper colors. While working on the photo, I was back in the summer, in warm weather, forgot COMPLETELY about the terrible ice, snow, slush and rain that is outside my window, and escaped into my photograph. And for all my friends here on the I95 stretch, THIS ONES FOR YOU!!

Winter Wonderland

Last weekend dumped a good amount of snow in my area. This was also accompanied by whipping winds and temperatures that felt like more below zero than in the 20's. Still, as a photographer, you see the beauty in a lot of places and the snow is one of the most beautiful.

Even with the winds slashing across my face and just about knocking me down, I ventured outside to capture the little berries that were covered in snow, the Christmas lights dimmed by it's cover and the blue haze that swept over the landscaping. Please enjoy my winter photos from last weeks winter storm! I braved the elements to bring them to you! Find more of my photos on my Facebook fan page!!

Journal Entry 12/04/2010

It has been a very busy last two months! Weddings, Birthday Parties, Family Portrait Sessions, Web 2.0, Blogging for Corporate Accounts and learning more about photography and it's little tricks all the way through.

I feel badly I haven't blogged on my own blogs. I know how important blogging is and, as a Web Social Media Consultant, I encourage all my clients to do so. Do as I say, not as I do would be a perfect phrase in my scenario.

The Christmas Season is upon us and I am happy as a kid in candy land with the opportunities one photographer is offered during this season. Last week, I took a young group of siblings out to Longwood Gardens for a portrait session as a surprise for their mother for Christmas. Besides the fact that they are terrible secret keepers, their pictures were beautiful and capture their personalities. Their Mother called me in tears, saying how wonderfully beautiful her "babies" look and that she was so thankful for my time and effort.

This is always the most rewarding part of my job. When my pictures can being someone to tears of sheer joy and happiness that is the best I can hope for. And now, for my efforts, I am gaining family portrait sessions, weddings, birthday parties and other family gatherings from this ONE session. Word of mouth is more powerful than any advertisement could ever offer!

Regards,

Lisa Marie
